What is NAIDOC week?

NAIDOC week is a national celebration held each July to recognise and celebrate First Nations people and cultures. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. Each year a theme is released by the National NAIDOC Committee and community celebrations are often aligned with the theme. The theme for 2022 is Get Up Stand Up Show Up.

NAIDOC has been embraced by schools Australia wide and many host activities, connect with community at local celebrations and seek learning opportunities for students.

Wingaru Kids provides curriculum aligned lessons, complete with lesson plans, video and classroom resources to enhance student understanding of NAIDOC and the theme each year.
