This unique digital platform is designed to provide home-schooling lessons with an Aboriginal perspective. The high-quality content is created by Aboriginal educators, is engaging and exciting for young learners, and delivers accurate knowledge about Aboriginal People and culture. Lessons are presented in a Watch-Play-Learn format, which is widely recognised as an important learning technique. A comprehensive guide is also provided to support parents and carers with curriculum alignment and reporting, as well as to explore each lesson topic further. The resource features lessons designed for each learning stage of the Australian curriculum. While lessons are designed to be cumulative and build on learning in previous years, they do not rely on previous knowledge and can be taught independently. This provides parents and carers with the flexibility to decide which lessons are appropriate for their children, how many lessons will be used and in what order.

All our Lessons Correlate Directly with the Australian Curriculum

Our lessons are linked to all Key Learning areas in the curriculum so teachers can deliver Aboriginal content across their teaching program, as the curriculum intends. This approach supports the inclusion of diverse perspectives, which ensures students are benefitting from a broad range of Indigenous knowledge and Australian history. This is both engaging and contributes to an in-depth understanding of the complexities of our Country’s history as well as the spectacular culture of Australia’s First Nations.

What Parents Say about Wingaru Kids…

quotation mark icon “My girls are absolutely LOVING this program! It’s such a fun and gentle way to learn many things about culture. My six-year-old ended up in tears when we were watching the video on discrimination, and whilst it upset her it was such a good way to explain it to her – she really understood how unjust it was. It led us to have a really lengthy conversation that all five of my girls were involved in. Many questions were asked, further research was done, and they went on to try and educate some of their friends about the issues but they did it in such a mature way it made me proud…This program is so great – it’s real, it’s gentle, it’s informative and it starts real conversations. It’s awesome!”
Melanie – HEA Member
quotation mark icon “My son loves using Wingaru Kids. It is awesome to see the kids having such a great time and learning! I love the idea of my son knowing more about Aboriginal Australia and this is such a good way to learn. He is still talking about the cartoons!”
Sue Paterson – Parent
quotation mark icon “My child has absorbed everything he has been taught about Indigenous Australia and I celebrate the opportunity he has to receive an Aboriginal education through Wingaru. It makes his understanding and belief of who he is within the Country he lives on stronger and more truthful, and that is gold.”
HK Morgan-Harris – Parent
